About me…..
I am Dr. Adeela Masood Alizai, a board-certified physician specializing in both ophthalmology and neurology. With active licensures in Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and innovative comprehensive eye care to my patients.
My professional journey includes serving as a Consultant Teaching Ophthalmologist at The Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, and as a Consultant Clinical Ophthalmologist at the Aga Khan Development Network Diagnostic Eye Clinic in Jutial, Gilgit Baltistan.
In the United States, I have held various prestigious roles, including a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and a Neuro-Ophthalmologist at Franciscan Saint Anthony Memorial Hospital Michigan city for over ten years and serving at the South Bend Clinic. Prior to that I have held academic appointments as Assistant professor of Neurology, University of South Dakota at Avera Mc Kennan Hospital and Lecturer of Ophthalmology at University of Michigan at Kellogg Eye Center in ‘01-‘02 . I actively contribute to advancing eye health and neurological connections. My training included transitional internship at Brown University, Opthalmology residency training at Temple University ‘10,
In addition to my clinical work, I am the Founder and President of the Indiana Eye Institute, currently operating under Michiana Eye Institute doing business as “Michiana Ophthalmology and Headache” in South Bend, IN. This initiative underscores my commitment to innovative practices in eye and headache management.
Throughout my diverse career, I have prioritized patient-centered care and education to enhance the quality of life for those I serve. My background in ophthalmology and neurology uniquely positions me to tackle complex cases and make a meaningful difference in the lives of my patients. I enjoy doing cataract surgery, eyelid lift and tightening surgery and glaucoma lasers amongst other procedures.
Personally, i run a busy household besides my professional life, devoting my time as a caregiver for my mother at times, overseeing my three adult daughters who are on track to becoming medical doctors locally and as a wife who likes to put the food on the table and attends to her husband!
My hobbies include travelling, birdwatching, learning new languages, listening to audiobooks, leisure biking, gardening, water painting, hiking and dedicating my time to religious and spiritual development. I am interested in comparative religious studies and lessons therein.
Some friday am’s, I volunteer my time at a local eye clinic for the underserved at Sister Maura Brannick clinic.
I run a small non for profit on the side to assist and help individuals and institutions locally, nationally and internationally under ”Alizai Non for Profit”. I also like to mentor and teach our local and international students on the medical track.
